Kizito Mfashubumenyi

Kizito Mfashubumenyi is the Agroforestry Lead at 3T Rwanda, where he supports the planning and implementation of community-based agroforestry programmes. He works closely with country director, Felix, local authorities and farming communities to identify suitable sites, guides project design, and coordinates field operations, including nursery establishment, tree planting, and long-term landscape management.

Kizito brings over 14 years of experience in agroforestry, agroecology, and rural development. His expertise includes climate-smart agriculture, landscape restoration, carbon sequestration, and community engagement.

Before joining 3T, he served as Project Manager for the IPFG Nyungwe Agroforestry Project, where he supported more than 23,000 farmers and led large-scale farmland rehabilitation and tree-planting initiatives. He managed project coordination across multiple stakeholders and oversaw the implementation of sustainable agroforestry practices at scale.

Kizito holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and Rural Development. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies.

Kizito’s work is driven by a commitment to restoring degraded landscapes and strengthening rural livelihoods. He aspires to advance community-led nature-based solutions that build long-term resilience to climate change.
