Three Trees Private Limited (Headquarters: Singapore; CEO: Ian Shimizu; hereinafter “3T”), a company that develops and supplies high-quality carbon credits through forest restoration, has entered into a strategic capital and business partnership with Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. (hereinafter “KEPCO”) and its corporate venture capital firm K4 Ventures LLC (hereinafter “K4V”)*.
Background and Significance of the Partnership
As climate change mitigation becomes an urgent global priority, carbon credits—tradable instruments representing greenhouse gas reductions or removals—are playing an increasingly important role.
As separately announced today, 3T has reached an agreement with KEPCO to jointly advance a “Carbon Credit Generation Project in Ghana.” (Details here: link)
This strategic capital and business partnership is designed to further strengthen collaboration between KEPCO and 3T across their entire carbon credit business, in addition to the efforts in Ghana.
Going forward, the two companies will expand their cooperative framework by jointly developing new projects in other countries and working together in carbon credit sales.
