Dr. Kwakye Ameyaw

Kwakye Ameyaw is the Senior Forestry & HSEM (Health, Safety & Environmental Management) Advisor at 3T Ghana. He provides strategic oversight of forestry programmes while also leading the organisation’s approach to health, safety, and environmental responsibility across all operations. His role ensures that projects are delivered safely, ethically, and in ways that protect both people and the environment.

Dr. Ameyaw brings over 42 years of experience across forestry, environmental management, public service, research, and teaching. In addition to his forestry leadership, he has extensive experience in occupational health and safety, environmental risk management, and disaster preparedness, with a strong focus on safeguarding workers, communities, and ecosystems.

Before joining 3T, Dr. Ameyaw held senior leadership roles within Ghana’s Forestry Commission, including serving as Technical Advisor to the Chief Executive. He also served as President of the Ghana Institute of Foresters and worked as a consultant on national and international programmes. Across these roles, he advised on environmental governance, managed operational risks, supported safety and environmental standards in extractive and land-use sectors, and contributed to policy discussions on public health, environmental protection, and community safety.

Dr. Ameyaw holds a PhD from the University of Ghana and undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He has completed additional professional training in Finland and Japan and is an adjunct lecturer at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, where he teaches at the postgraduate level in occupational health, safety, and environmental management.

His work is driven by a lifelong commitment to protecting forests while ensuring that development is safe, responsible, and people-centred. Dr. Ameyaw believes that strong HSE leadership is essential to resilient communities, sustainable landscapes, and long-term climate solutions.
