Felix Rurangwa

Felix Rurangwa is the Country Director for Rwanda at 3T, where he provides strategic leadership for the organization’s carbon project portfolio and oversees project delivery, stakeholder partnerships, and alignment with national climate policies and international carbon standards. He leads a multidisciplinary team in Rwanda to deliver measurable environmental, social, and financial outcomes.

He brings over 15 years of experience in forestry, agroforestry, watershed management, landscape restoration, and climate change. Before joining 3T, Felix served as a Forestry Specialist at the Rwanda Green Fund, contributing to a Green Climate Fund (GCF)–funded project focused on strengthening climate resilience for rural communities in Northern Rwanda. He previously held the role of Director of Forestry Research, Extension, and Forest Ecosystem Management at the Rwanda Water and Forestry Authority (RWFA). He has led multiple national and district-level restoration initiatives and was appointed Rwanda’s National Focal Point for Forest Landscape Restoration by the Minister of Environment. His work has involved collaboration with organizations including IUCN, WRI, FAO, ARCOS, and ICRAF, as well as leadership of consultancies on REDD+ readiness, forest monitoring systems, EIAs, and national non-timber forest product strategies.

Felix holds an MSc in Forestry from Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania) and a BSc in Agroforestry from the College of Agriculture and Animal Science (Rwanda), with additional training in climate change, biodiversity conservation, GIS, forest landscape restoration, and urban forestry.

His work is driven by a strong commitment to sustainable forest management, climate resilience, and community-partnered landscape restoration, translating policy and science into durable on-the-ground impact.
