Ian Shimizu

Ian Shimizu is CEO of 3T, where he leads the company’s strategy, capital formation, and development of large-scale nature-based solutions projects. He works closely with investors, governments, and local partners to build investment-grade forest and landscape restoration assets that generate high-integrity carbon credits.

He brings nearly a decade of experience in climate-focused entrepreneurship, with deep expertise in carbon markets, project finance, and forest-based climate solutions. His work centers on structuring systems that align long-term economic value with measurable environmental and social impact.

Before founding 3T, Ian established and led weMORI, the predecessor to 3T, through which he mobilized funding from global institutions and corporate partners into reforestation and forest conservation projects across four continents. Through this work, he gained hands-on experience operating across diverse regulatory, ecological, and cultural contexts.

Ian’s work is driven by a commitment to creating systems that achieve both economic and environmental sustainability. He believes carbon markets represent one of the most practical and scalable tools available today to finance global ecosystem restoration.
